Born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1937, he graduated from the University of Florida in 1959. Later that year, he joined IBM working as a junior engineer. In 1963, he worked with NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center. He then to Boca Raton, Florida for more work with IBM. While there he would work on the personal computer, which he leaded. He would later be remembered as the "father of the IBM PC" for his contribution to the world.
